Officials in Mangkolemba with the seized items
MOKOKCHUNG, OCTOBER 25 (MExN): The Mangkolemba Town Council with the assistance of the Dobashis of Mangkolemba went on a surprise checking with regard to the ‘total ban on all single use plastic in Mangkolemba’ on October 25. The team confiscated around 13 cartons of 300 ml water bottle, 5 kg of polythene bags and an total fine amount of Rs 10,000 was imposed on the defaulters.
The Mangkolemba Town Council has once again appealed to the shopkeepers and public to avoid using single use plastic bags with or without handles. This is irrespective of thickness and size, plastic cutlery including plates, plastic cups, straws, stirrers and other decorative made of Styrofoam (thermocol), mineral water bottle of size less than 1Litre, polythene, nylon, poly-vinyl- chloride (PVC), poly propylene and poly styrene.
