Chen Union Dimapur holds 18th general session

Dimapur, April 28 (MExN): The Chen Union Dimapur (CUD) held its 18th general session at the union’s office on April 19. A press release from the president, Chenlip Yakha Salymn, informed that a special speech was delivered by Shaboh, former MLA 45-Tehok. He emphasized on the importance of the Union for the community’s benefit. He cited that Union body has to intervene in every basic needs of the community to check anti-social activities and to eradicate poverty and safeguard each and every member’s interest so as to attain ones’ goal in every field of profession or work.

Further, the speaker added that the presence of a union also brings a sense of security to every individual and promote values that transform us into good human beings and make society healthier to live in. He also stated that, it preserves our rich cultural heritage and tradition and thereby preserving our distinctive identity.  

The programme was presided over by M. Nokpai, former president. Invocation prayer was pronounced by Yanon Konyak, CASK-Dimapur president, which was followed by a special song from Ahpa Konyak of Chingkao Chingnyu.

Meanwhile, the House also adopted the Constitution and flag of the Chen Union Dimapur. Further, the new office bearers for 2014-17 tenure were nominated with Er. K. Chenlip Yakha Salym as president, W.Yanath as vice-president, N.Chingkim Walim as general secretary, Y.Bohngam Veholym as asstistant general secretary, Akham as organizing & publicity secretary, Ato as finance secretary, and W. Wangyuh, former MP as treasurer.
