Chennai to generate 4.40 lakh more jobs

CHENNAI, April 1 (TNN): Chennai, along with Mumbai and Delhi-NCR, ranks among the top three in the list of cities that will generate maximum number of jobs in 2011, a survey said. The Employment Trends Survey by Ma Foi Randstad states that Chennai, which employed 3.72 lakh people last year, will attract more with 4.40 lakh jobs this year. Mumbai, which generated 6.50 lakh jobs in 2010, will employ 7.58 lakh jobs in 2011. Delhi-NCR belt is expected to employ 6.88 lakh this year against 5.86 lakh last year.
The survey said of the total hiring, Chennai will recruit 58.97% of freshers (zero to three years experience). While most cities reflected a similar skew, Pune is likely to hire 64.75% freshers and only 35.25% experienced people. On the sectors, transport, storage and communication (TSC) may hire 67.87% freshers, followed by trade - consumer, retail and services (TCRS) which may have 65.70% freshers and media and entertainment may recruit 63.35% freshers this year.
