Chief Minister inaugurates bridge at Doyang

ZUNHEBOTO, APRIL 24 (DIPR): State Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio inaugurated the Kontsunyu-Saptiqa-Satakha road this morning at Kontsunyu. The 52 km stretch road has been constructed under E&I (MORTH). Rio also unveiled the inaugural stone monolith at Kontsunyu junction where he dedicated the road to the development and prosperity of the people of the area. Earlier, Pastor, Kontsunyu Village Baptist Church, Sansiya Rengma pronounced the invocation prayer and welcome song was presented by GMS, Kontsunyu.

Later, Rio inaugurated the Double Reinforced (DDR) Bailey Bridge across Doyang on the Kontsunyu-Saptiqa-Satakha road and wayside Amenities Building constructed by Tourism Department. He was accompanied by Minister for Works and Housing and Mechanical, Tokheho Yeptho, Minister for Forest and IPR, Kheto and a host of Parliamentary Secretaries and MLAs.

Speaking at the inaugural programme Rio stated that this achievement is the fruit of peace, in tune with his Government’s manifesto ‘Peace for Development and Development for Peace’. He said that in this civilized world Nagas should not give way to misunderstanding and tribalism and added that this road and bridge is a bond of friendship for Rengmas, Angamis, Lothas and Sumis and all Naga tribes in general which will usher in a brighter economy of the area people.

Referring to the DAN Legislators performance, he stated that 90 % of his colleagues are workaholics which means ‘they love the public’. All achievements made are equally attributed to his DAN colleagues, he added. He further stated that he had toured interior parts of Nagaland to see what is required of the people and said that programmmes to alleviate the youths, women and farmers are made. This is possible because the Government has a clear vision for the Nagas, Rio added, and assured the huge gathering that if he leads the Nagas in the days to come, more initiatives will be taken for a better Nagaland.

Earlier, Tokheho expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for his concern for the development of Nagaland and referred to the Chief Minister’s lady wife Kaisa Rio as a pillar of support to the Chief Minister in all his endeavours.

“A man of vision” said Kheto referring to Rio’s leadership. He said that DAN Legislators speak less and show in action.

Parliamentary Secretaries R Khing, Kaito Aye, Jongshilemba, MLA Naiba Konyak and President Sumi Hoho, S Rotokha also spoke at the programme. The wayside Amenities Building at Doyang (Tabu) has been named as Rio Ki (Rio’s Home).

The programme was chaired by Engineer in Chief (NPWD) N Chielie and a brief history of the road and bridge was presented by Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Nagaland, Dr Vikuotuolie Angami.

The programme was followed by cultural items and feast.

Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto and SDO (C) Satakha and a host of government officials from Zunheboto and Wokha were also present.
