Chief Minister, Speaker makes obituary reference

Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) speaker Er. Vikho-o Yhoshu today made obituary references on the passing away of Late Manohar Parrikar, former defence minister and former chief minister of Goa, Late D. Donkupar Roy, speaker Meghalaya Legislative Assembly and Late Rockonicha, former minister Nagaland.


Late Manohar Parrikar, former Defence Minister was serving as the Chief Minister of Goa from March 14, 2017 until his death on March  17, 2019. Previously he was the Chief Minister of Goa from 2000 to 2005 and from 2012 to 2014. From 2014 to 2017 he served as the Minister of Defence. He was also a former Member of Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh.


Late Dr Donkupar Roy, Speaker of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly was holding office until his death on July 28, 2019. He was the head of the United Democratic Party, a recognized political party in Meghalaya and also served as the Minister of Meghalaya.


Er.Yhoshu made obituary reference to the passing away of Late Rokonicha, former Deputy Speaker of Nagaland Legislative Assembly and former Minister of State. 


Rokonicha died on 16th April 2019 at the age of 73. He served as member of Nagaland Legislative Assembly for six terms.


NLA speaker said the grief and sorrow expressed by the House will be conveyed to the bereaved family members.
The House observed two minute silence in remembrance and honour of the departed souls.


NLA secretary reported the assent of Nagaland’s governor on Nagaland Nursing Council Bill, 2019, Nagaland Appropriation (No. 1 & 2) Bill, 2019 and the Nagaland Lokayukta (Amendment) Bill, 2019
