Chief of Nihoto Village passes away

Niuland, May 1 (MExN): Niuland District GB’s Association (NDGBA) has expressed condolences on the passing away of Dr P Nihoto Chishi, Village Chief of Nihoto Village on April 30.

“We are deeply saddened by the sad demise of our veteran leader and akukatou Dr P Nihoto Chishi. He served the people and the societies in various capacities during his leadership life. He will always be remembered for his worthy contribution towards Sumi People and Nagas in general,” Isawoto Zhimomi, President, NDGBA and Khevuto Kiho General Secretary, NDGBA stated in a press release. 

The Association also expressed “sympathies with his near and dear ones and prayed our almighty to give strength and courage to his family in this sad moment and also prayed that his departed soul rest in peace.”

In another condolence message, Akato Chophi, President NSCN/GPRN (Akato) said that Nihoto, who originally hails from Khukishe village was a pioneer and a leader in every respect.

“His resume is very vast to be put all into writing, but some of his achievements includes as a student leader, a teacher, a church leader, a social activist, a politician, a senior Naga nationalist, founder of Nihoto village, and also founder/president of many association, unions and hohos,” Akato stated. 

Stating that his unfortunate demise is a huge loss to the Sumis in particular and the Nagas in general, Akato added, “The late leader leaves behind his legacy as a torchbearer, a front runner, a harbinger of peace, and a philanthropist.”

“I most fervently invoke God's grace to kindly rest his soul in eternal peace and also prays that the good Lord provide solace to his family members and friends during their time of grief,” he added.
