Chief Secy tells SEC & state officials to work in close coordination for fair ULB elections

KOHIMA, MAY 31 (MExN): The Chief Secretary, Nagaland has called for close coordination between the State Election Commission (SEC) and the state government officers deputed for the Urban Local Body polls for ensuring free, fair and peaceful elections. 

The State Election Commissioner, T John Longkumer, in a press release, on May 31, informed that a coordination meeting was held on May 29 with the CS, Home Commissioner, Commissioner & Secretary of Municipal Affairs Department, State Nodal Officer for the SEC and Police Nodal Officer as a stock taking measure of the ongoing preparation for the ULB polls. 

It said that at the meeting, the officials were briefed on measures that the Commission has taken for the smooth conduct of the election and that all necessary arrangements were on track.

The Police Nodal Officer updated on the security arrangements being put in place and the Home Commissioner assured to provide all possible assistance towards deployment of security personnel. “The State Election Commissioner further informed the house that all electoral processes are proceeding as per the election schedule and requested all concerned to continue working with the same commitment to ensure that the election is successfully completed as scheduled keeping in mind the submission to that effect made before the Supreme Court of India,” the SEC release said.
