‘Child Labour: A Major Challenge’

Mokokchung, June 12 (MExN): Sensitization programme on Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) cum celebration of World Day against Child Labour organised by District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Mokokchung on the topic ‘Child Labour: A Major Challenge’ was held at Penli Community Hall, Mokokchung.  

The speaker in the programme, Dr. Imlirenla Walling, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee said that children are the future generation therefore they should be protected from all evils of our society, mentioned a DIPR news report.  

“We all must fight against child labour and child abuse in any manner where a child’s right to survive, protect, and develop and participation is deprived in our society. To uphold the Child’s Right Provision is very important under Integrated Child Protection Scheme. Even the government has a memorandum of understanding (MOU) sign on it,” she stated.  

To mark the day’s programme and to give awareness to each and every one, a debate was held on the topic “Child labour is better than living in poverty” with the motive being moved by Queen Mary Higher Secondary School and against motion by Jubilee Memorial School followed by a discussion by the participants on the day’s topic.  

The programme was chaired by Supongsangla Counsellor, OCPU. Keynote address by Moasenla Imchen, DCPO and vote of thanks by Sendonglemba, LCPO.
