Phek, January 31 (MExN): A 1 year and 9 months old girl child was allegedly raped by a 14-year-old minor at Lewoza in Phek district on January 20. According to the Chairperson of Leshemi Village Women Society (LVWS), Ketshe-ü Losou, the alleged accused lured the minor girl to an undisclosed place and raped her at Lewoza.
“At first, the suspect denied to the crime but after medical examination, the rape was confirmed,” the Chairperson stated in a condemnation note.
While vehemently condemning the act against the girl child, LVWS said, “Such brutality and heinous crimes towards girl and women should be debarred from a civilized society. It is shameful and humiliating to take away the modesty and integrity of women.”
The Society further asserted that it will not remain a mere spectator but fight against any harassment towards the girls and women. It also demanded the authorities concerned to give befitting punishment to the perpetrator as per the law.
Meanwhile, LVWS requested the “law abiding body” to excommunicate the alleged accused from the village vicinity.
