With an aim to sensitize citizens on child rights District Child Protection Unit, Kiphire organized ‘sensitization on child rights’ programme with active participation from 11 wards chairman of Kiphire, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Juvenile Justice Board (JJB), Woman Cell Police Department, Kiphire and Legal Service Authority, Kiphire at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall.
Delivering keynote address Rokokhrielie, Programme Officer, State Child Protection Society (SEPS) Kohima, said “child rights can be better ensured when all stakeholders such as NGOs, department and government work together.” He said the objective behind organising sensitization on child rights was to cover every child in need of help.
On various roles and help available under the District Child Protection Unit he said “open shelter” will now be converted into observatory home and there are also provisions for adoption for childless couple.
Participants were also briefed about 181 toll free number available 24/7, which can be reached through call, text and internet. 181 is exclusively design to help woman affected by domestic violence.
Representing Legal Service Authority, Kiphire Likhase, Advocate, spoke on free legal help available to woman and children, he said that family with below 1 Lakh income can avail free legal service and he also assured the participants of any legal help in cases involving woman and children.
The programme was chaired by Puli Thurr and special number was presented by Agape School, Kiphire and it ended with a vote of thanks by Bangdangwati Sangtam.
