The District Legal Service Authority today organize orientation programme on protection of child rights with stakeholders under Kiphire district at the DC conference hall.
Addressing the programme, DC Kiphire, Sedevikho Khro said it is the duties and responsibilities of every individual to ensure that crime should not be committed to young persons and hoped that with the seminar, everyone will go out with more knowledge on the subject.
The DC also said that the concept of juvenile is very conflicting in Naga society because if a young one commit crime it is very difficult to charge against them though there is different juvenile law to deal with it. Sharing his observation the DC further said that in Naga society there might be many sexual harassment cases against young ones but due to ignorance or due to social pressure things goes hidden which is causing much harm to the young ones and asked the stakeholders present to play a proactive role to prevent all those things.
Mezivolu T. Therieh, CJM & Secretary, DLSA Kiphire while speaking on ‘protection of children from sexual offences act 2012’, said that unless there is law in society, the land will be in chaos and it is not only for lawyers but the duty of everyone to act against sexual offences. She also called upon the gathering to work together for better society as adults and to be sensitive to the needs of the children.
Hotingkyu, Panel Lawyer, DLSA Kiphire who spoke on the topic ‘Implementation of JJ (care and protection of children) Act 2015, for child in conflict with law (CCL) shared on various act and act that is being amended for the protection of children and juvenile.
Khuzah Jurry SDPO while welcoming the gathering said that the programme is designed to disseminate more awareness to the general public for the rights of the children’s and also to sensitize the stakeholders for better society. He also assured all possible help and seeks co-operation from the stake holders to serve the society better.
