Chümoukedima, February 18 (MExN): Preparations for the Sekrenyi-cum-Mini Hornbill Festival 2026 gathered momentum following a coordination meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, Chümoukedima, on February 18.
The meeting, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Polan John reviewed arrangements for the festival scheduled to be held on February 25 at Sovima Village Council Ground.
Officials from various departments attended the meeting to ensure coordination for the event.
Addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted the festival’s role as a platform for cultural expression and economic activity, and called for inter-departmental cooperation to ensure its smooth conduct.
The Senior Tourist Officer presented the programme outline and informed that a capacity-building session would be organised as part of the festival.
Chairman of Sovima Village Council briefed the meeting on the preparations underway, including arrangements for traditional games, tents, canopies and departmental stalls. Around 11 departments have confirmed participation by setting up stalls at the venue.
Participants emphasised the need for wider publicity to enhance public participation and community engagement.
The meeting concluded with an appeal to all departments concerned to coordinate closely for the successful conduct of the festival under the aegis of the Government of Nagaland, stated a DIPR report.
