Chümoukedima, Medziphema prepare for monsoon with cleanliness drive

Chümoukedima, May 19 (MExN): Through the initiative of District Administration, a mass social work was organised in Chümoukedima District, in view of the onset of monsoon season and as a pre-monsoon preparedness measure in Chümoukedima district on May 17.

A DIPR report stated that the aim of mass social work was to foster a sense of unity and responsibility among all citizens towards a cleaner and healthier Chümoukedima, and further to promote cleanliness and community engagement to a clean and welcoming environment. The mass social work was focused on unclogging of drainage, clearance of construction material and debris, clearance of foliage, waste disposal, and cleaning and upkeep of public spaces and utilities. 

During the mass social work, all shops and business establishment were remain closed from 6:00 AM - 12:00 Noon. All Heads of Offices and Institutions under Chümoukedima District cleaned their office/institution premises and contagious areas. While, a team consisting of EAC, Seithekema, CTC, PWD (NH), PWD (R&B), WRD, PHED, Fire & Emergency Service, and 1st NAP Bn, with respective Village Councils cleaned the stretch of NH-29 from 3rd mile Airport culvert till Chathe bridge (Patkai bridge) with focus on drainages and debris removal along the road dividers and paved shoulders making it a mandatory participation of business establishments as well. 

Village Councils and Colony GBs supervised the cleanliness drive to all citizens of the district to cleaned their respective houses, neighbourhood, drainage and roads. Further, all shopkeepers adjacent to public roads also participated in cleaning the drainages and roads in their area.

The Chümoukedima Town Council, Medziphema Town Council and the various village councils were in-charge of garbage/debris disposal in their respective jurisdiction. Chümoukedima Traffic Control ensured traffic management along the NH-29. 

Medziphema sub-division under Chümoukedima also conducted a mass social work on May 17 in connection with the onset of monsoon season and as a pre- monsoon preparation. 

All government offices, institutions and public actively participated in cleaning the town and villages focusing on unclogging of drainage, clearing debris, cleaning NH-29 divider, foliage, disposal of waste.

Medziphema Town Council and various village councils provided assistance in clearing the garbage and executed the mass social work.
