CHÜMOUKEDIMA, JUNE 17 (MExN): The Chümoukedima District Badminton Association (CDBA) will host the 2nd Interschool Badminton Tournament on July 4 and 5 at the Tetso Arena, Tetso College, Sovima.
The tournament will feature Boys’ and Girls’ Singles and Doubles events across five age categories — Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, and Under-17.
Aimed at promoting grassroots-level badminton, the tournament seeks to identify promising talents from the district and foster their development toward state and national-level participation.
A special highlight of this edition will be the introduction of the “Overall Team Champion” trophy, to be awarded to the school that records the best cumulative performance across all categories. The award is intended to encourage team spirit, school pride, and all-round participation.
“This tournament is not just a competition but a stepping stone for our young players,” said the President of CDBA. “The Overall Team Champion trophy adds a new level of excitement and motivation for schools to nurture talent and push for excellence. Through this tournament, we aim to provide consistent opportunities for children to grow in the sport.” The CDBA has extended an open invitation to all schools in the district, as well as parents and the general public, to attend and support the celebration of youth, sportsmanship, and talent.
