Chomi VC backs YTC on ‘Yimchungru region’

Dimapur, October 23 (MExN): All natives of Chomi village in Kiphire district, serving under the so-stated “Saramati region” of the NSCN (IM) are asked to withdraw and join the ‘Yimchungru region’ of the outfit. The Chomi Village Council strongly asserted today that the creation of “such a region” by the group reflects the ‘game’ of ism and division being played within the Yimchungru community.

The opposition of the Yimchunger Tribal Council’s (YTC), Pungro area public and GBs of Pungro to what was called the “Saramati region” by the NSCN (IM) is supported by Chomi Village Council, Kiphire. Chomi Village Council met on October 21 and unanimously decided to stand fully by the decision of the stated organizations opposing the ‘region’ created by the NSCN (IM) “government.”

The council’s leaders issued a statement today appreciating the peace and reconciliation process but reminded that creating “such a region” is a clear pointer to the ‘game’ of ism and divisive policies being played within the Yimchunger community “by some vested interest.”

Unless the “newly-created region” is changed into “Yimchungru Saramati region”, the note said “it” will not cooperate under any circumstance.

The council has directed all natives of Chomi village, under Kiphire, serving under “Saramati region” of the NSCN (IM) to immediately withdraw and join the ‘Yimchungru region’ of the outfit. Failing to do so would mean Chomi Village Council and the public will not “cooperate with them” or render help “in times of trouble.” Their very actions shall also be ‘self-explanatory and self responsible’, the council stated.

The council further stated that in case any untoward eventualities happen on Chomi village natives in connection with the issue, “it will be solely responsible by the Chomi citizens serving under Saramati region.”
