Dimapur, September 21 (MExN): Demands for the state government to revoke the COVID-19 cess on petrol and diesel got louder on Monday as three more organisations under the banner of the Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), extended their support to the ultimatum issued by the DNSU.

In a joint press statement, the organisations—Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD), Dimapur Urban Council Chairmen Federation (DUCCF) and GB’s (Sadar) Union, along with the NCD said that the COVID-19 cess has “unjustifiably increased the price of every item across the state,” affecting the common people.

Despite the appeals and demands from various civil society and students bodies on the issue to revoke the price hike on COVID -19, “the state government has remained adamant and still persist, which is nothing short of an attempt by the state government adding salt to the injury, when the entire general public is reeling under this crisis,” the statement read.

As such, the organisations demanded that the state government immediately abrogate the cess “else the civil society’s organization shall no longer tolerate and remain a mute spectator.”
