Kohima, November 26 (MExN): IT equipments in the form of tablet, SIM card, printer, laptop etc were provided to the Community Health Officers (CHOs) manning the Health & Wellness Centres (H&WCs) functioning in Kohima District. 

NHM Nagaland in a press release stated that the distribution programme was held at the SPMU Hall, DoH&FW, Kohima on November 26. Addressing the CHOs present, Mission Director, National Health Mission, Nagaland, Dr Kevichusa Medikhrü encouraged them to work hard and diligently so that the services given through the HWCs are improved further and the people are benefited through the Center. 

He mentioned that the goal of the HWCs is to decrease the mortality and morbidity especially that of the mother and child and also the out of pocket expenditure of the people at the grassroots and that the CHOs should work towards achieving it. 

State Program Officer, NHM Dr Thanghoi Lam expressed appreciation to the Development partners- USAID – NISHTHA- Jhpiego, for making the Naga Tele health happen, which is an exclusive App developed for Nagaland and UNICEF for the ANMOL Tablet through the Ministry.

Dr Manyau Phom, Deputy Director, National Health Mission, mentioned that in the first phase the IT equipment for Naga Tele Health will be given to 82 HWCs and for the rest of the 82 center it will be given in the 2nd Phase. 

Naga Tele Health was launched by the Minister of Health, Government of Nagaland, S Pangnyu Phom on September 9, 2020 with an aim to ensure continuity of essential health services to people across the state. The model will work on a hub and spoke approach and connect medical officers and specialist doctors for general and specialized tele consultation. The technology platform is being launched in web and android platform. 

Naga Tele Health will also be beneficial for triaging COVID-19 patients and managing essential health care services at primary level. This technology based platform will go a long way in ensuring that people in the most remote corners of the state have access to quality, affordable primary healthcare services.
