Phek, August 30 (MExN): The Chozuba Town Road (Properties) Damages Owners and Chozuba Range Public Organization (CRPO) have submitted a joint representation to the Deputy Commissioner, Phek district highlighting the grievances concerning the construction of two-lane Chakhabama to Zunheboto via Chozuba and the “innumerable difficulties faced by the people of the said ranges.”
The signatories of the joint representation included Chozuba Range Public Organisation, President, Puyoyi Nyekha and Secretary Vesupra Luruo and Chozuba Town Road (Properties) Damages Owners Chairman, Ketipra Lohe and Secretary, Kuduvotso Vero.
The two bodies mentioned that vehicular accidents have become rampant due to the deplorable road conditions left unattended for the last 6/7 years. The representation mentioned that there are “many cases of pregnant women and patients facing untimely death due to poor road and the condition of road has been worsening day by day.”
While stating that the absence of good road has totally cut off the economy of the ranges, as the locally produce goods cannot reach the market on time, it stated, “on the other hand, the essentials commodities which are brought from outside are too costly.”
It pointed out that the rampant cutting of roads has caused massive landslides which have totally devastated the structures, paddy fields, irrigation channel and plantation projects etc. affecting the general people and their livelihood. It also added that commuters and travelers have to traverse through “precarious life threatening” roads every day causing “grievous harms” to the people.
“Comparing the sanction amount of compensation to other routes of the first phase, i.e. 2014 the sanction amount of our ranges route are much lesser than the other effected owners,” the two organisations alleged while appealing to the authority to “look in the matter and equalized the sanction to the effected owners without any discrimination.”
They also appealed to the NHIDCL to look into the “genuine grievances and immediately release compensation at one-time payment to the damaged properties owners before executing the works without any further delay tactics.”
They representation also demanded the authorities concerned to “start the work immediately in order to prevent any unwanted situation.”
