‘Christian Academy’, a school dedicated to imparting children the “finest education” and to serve the Kingdom of Heaven was inaugurated at Model Colony, Purana Bazar, on November 27.

The school, managed by a couple - Rev. Joshua Barela and his wife Bernice Barela – will have the CBSE curriculum and the academic year 2019 will start with four classes (LKG I to Class II).

Sharing his vision of the Academy at the inauguration and dedication programme, Rev. Joshua said the school aims to teach children not only secular knowledge but also to become disciples of the Lord so that they spread the Word of God to the unreached.

The Reverend, who is also chairman of Christian Academy, said Nagaland is one of the most strategic places to work for the Kingdom of Heaven as India is the “number one unreached country” and also the state is surrounded by countries which have the maximum number of people who have not heard the Gospel.

Rev Dr Jonathan Pugh, pastor/CAL Board member, USA, the guest speaker of the event who dwelled on Christian education said since “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. The statutes of the Lord are right…” (Psalms 19), it is Christian faith that can impart the “finest education.”   Rev Pugh said it is Christian faith which makes science, medicine, music and poetry possible.

He said one challenge for the Academy would be imparting values “not to the heart but to the heart” and moulding the characters of children to become servants of God.

Rev Pugh exuded confidence that the students of the academy would one day respond to their true calling –serve the Lord and humanity – no matter what job or profession they pursue.

Superintendent Engineer (Power), Er Shikato Jakhalu, chairman LFHSS and president ANPSA Dimapur unit, Dr Andrew Ahoto and assistant director, DG of GST Intel., Otto Yeputhomi, also exhorted the gathering.

Other highlights of the programme included raising of the Christian Flag and ribbon cutting ceremony by the Barela family, dedication stone prayer by Rev Pugh, invocation by Rev Dr Hevukhu Achumi, executive secretary WSBAK, bible reading by Bernice Barela and special song by Michael Free, manager, developer and chairman of three business companies, USA.

David Free, a retired US Air Force officer and founding member of a Christian school in USA, pronounced benediction.
