Dimapur, July 4 (MExN): Christian organizations have not taken too kindly to the charges made by the Zeliangrong Heraka Association that Naga Churches are destroying Naga culture as strongly expressed by the Herakan organization. The Jesus Gospel Ministry, North East India, responding to the charges has termed the allegations of the Heraka association as completely baseless and charged the Herakans of being backed by “some Hindu fanatics” out to divide the Naga society.
It may be mentioned here that the Herakans, followers of a 'native' religion called Heraka, had in a representation to the President of India earlier alleged that Naga christians were forcibly converting Herakans. They had also asserted that Nagas were Hindus “who were converted at gun-point”.
“This kind of false and wrong statements will create unnecessary problems in our peaceful-living society. Christianity means ‘Christ’s followers’ – He forgave our sins and He is our only Savior and it is not the force of religions like Hindu or others but it depends on personal understanding, faith, committing and choice” Ashang Kasar, Director of Jesus Gospel Ministry, NE India reminded the Heraka Association.
According to the Ministry, no Christian has ever used the power of guns to change the lives of non-believers. “Nobody used gun or force to convert into Christianity but only teaching the love of God and showing the true life. After full understanding about Jesus Christ who died for our sins and filled (us) with the Holy Spirit, the people are converted or converting into Christianity” Kasar stated.
The Jesus Gospel Ministry “unhappily” slammed the Herakans’ statement as an unfortunate one and “it is also meaningless statements”. According to the Jesus Gospel Ministry “Some Hindu fanatics are behind the Heraka Association and they are trying to create problems in Nagalim because Nagalim is for Christ”.
The Jesus Gospel Ministry NE India in no uncertain terms condemned what it termed as false statements. “The statements are totally baseless and the JGM warns that anything harassment or conflict to the Christians by the Hindus in India or in NC Hills in the future, the responsibility should be taken by the Zeliangrong Heraka Association” it stated and asked the ZHA not to repeat such unfounded statements or charges.
Mention may be made here that concerned citizens have also expressed resentment and unhappiness at the allegations of the Heraka Association against the Naga Churches and Christian community in Nagaland. Some of the charges of Herakans include allegations that Naga christian missionaries are involved in "converting corpses to christianity".
