Christo Naga’s Club of Zhavame awarded ‘Best Organisation for COVID-19 Warrior’

Christo Naga’s Club of Zhavame, Nagaland was awarded ‘Global COVID & Warrior Leadership & Excellence Award 2020-21’ during a virtual ceremony held on August 14.

Initiated by Vasundhara Blessings Foundation and the KGNHSS Foundation, the Club was chosen as the ‘Best Organisation for COVID-19 Warrior for significant contribution during COVID situation’.

The event brought together individuals and organisations from all over the world, recognizing their relentless efforts and contributions especially during the pandemic.

It may be mentioned that, to integrate individuals of all professionals into the agriculture, the Christo Naga’s Club of Zhavame village decided to venture into terrace cultivation amid the uncertain situation posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The club members took the offer from Nasu Krocha to plough his filed for free in 2020. They also took the ownership of the whole process of cultivation including the ploughing, transplanting samplings, weeding and harvesting.

Stating that the Award was presented to Christo Naga’s Club “for serving the society to ensure welfare and sustainability,” it also added that, “We salute you for your hard work & efforts that you have put in, helping people in this tough COVID time.” 

The award categories included Best Green Initiatives Organisation (Environment), Best Social Welfare Contributor, Best Rural Development Contributor, Best Women Empowerment & Childcare Contributor, Best Healthcare Services Provider, Best Organisations for Peace & Harmony, Best Organisations in Sports Category, Old Age Help Organisations and General under the NGO Leadership & Excellence Award while Awards for Individual were given for Leadership Award, CSR/SDG Implementing Partner Award, Best Innovative Practices Award, NGO of the Year Award Leader and Best COVID Warrior Award respectively. Three other states from the North East featured in the list including Sadam Hanjabam, Ya-All (NGO) from Manipur, Suren Mohra, Field Facilitator, State Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Sikkim and Dr Amrita Sarkar, Assistant Professor & Epidemiologist, Department of Community Medicine, Tomo Riba Institute Of Health And Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Arunachal Pradesh.

A child prodigy-Trapa Choudgury, Student (Standard 3), Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Guwahati, Assam was also awarded “Child Ambassador SDG/Winner of Global Child Peace Ambassador, London/Award Holder: India Book of Records, 2021.”
