A one-day awareness programme on Financial Literacy Programme was held at Chuchuyimlang Baptist Church on November 26. It was organized by FI Cell, RBO Mokokchung in collaboration with the Divisional Forest Office Mokokchung (NFMP), KVK Mokokchung and supported by NABARD and the Chuchuyimlang Baptist Church (Mission). 

S Amarjit Mangang, DDM Mokokchung as the resource person shared on the mandate of NABARD. He discussed the district’s potential connected credit plan document, which highlights the credit potential of lending from financial institutions to priority sectors. He briefed the participants on KCC, SHG, and offered information about NABARD programmes that could support farmers and SHGs. 

Additionally, he discussed numerous NABARD activities and interventions in the district and success stories of several FPOs and projects funded by the Tribal Development Fund. He also made a point to mention the Chief Minister's microfinance programme.

Athili, Chief Manager, Financial Inclusion SBI, RBO Mokokchung shared about the importance of investment and gave an elaborate explanation on the Pradhan Mantri Social Security schemes like Atal Pension Yojana (APY),Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Yojana (PMSBY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and the Sukhanya Samridhi Scheme. 

Dr Keviletsu Khate, Senior Scientist & Head, KVK Mokokchung remarked that the farming community at Chuchuyimlang under the guidance of the church (Mission) has been working effectively by motivating, assisting and linking with the scientific knowledge resulting in better harvest and he encouraged all the farmers to continue with the same spirit.

Presentation on activities done by the farmer’s group in union with the KVK and under the guidance of the church mission was presented by Imtimongba, Mission Secretary, Chuchuyimlang Baptist Church while the activities done by the SHGs under Forest department was presented by Akumtoshi, Team Leader, FNGO. 

The programme was chaired by C Bendangonen Jamir, Mission Director, Chuchuyimlang Baptist Church. welcome note was pronounced by Rev T Lima, Pastor, Chuchuyimlang and the concluding remark was delivered by Dr Sentitula, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer, Mokokchung where she stated that learning is a continuous process and remarked that the more we learn, the more we discover our ignorance and therefore, we should strive to continue learning.

The programme was attended by the farming community and important stakeholders from Chuchuyimlang and SHGs from nearby villages like Changtongya, Yaongyimsen and Salulemang.
