DIMAPUR, JUNE 28 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Chumoukedima has issued an advisory in view of the instances of casualties and injuries during digging of ring well in the district. The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has informed that the best time to dig a well is at the end of the dry season when the underground water level is at its lowest. “Always have a helper nearby when digging; never dig alone; wear harness when entering the well; stop digging when the well begin to crumble and show signs of collapse; cover the hole when digging is not in progress; diameter of Ring well has to be 3 feet wide to ensure easy movement of the workers,” the advisory stated.
