‘Church is external sign of God’s love’

St Joseph catholic community gets new church in Khumchoyan

Wokha, January 31 (MExN): A new church under the patronage of St Joseph was blessed and inaugurated by Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima at Khumchoyan under Sacred Heart Parish, Bhandari on January 31.  

Bishop James Thoppil, in his homily reminded the assembly that “we are all temple of the Holy Spirit.” He said that a church is the external sign of God’s love of the internal disposition of every Christian. He affirmed that “we need to be the seed that is sown in a good soil to produce a good fruit. He congratulated the persons responsible for the construction of the new church.” 

The lectern and the crucifix were also blessed during the occasion, stated a press release issued by Fr Renthungo Victor, Secretary to Bishop of Kohima.

Rev Fr John Ntonse, Priest In-charge, Longsa delivered the welcome address, Fr Rhanben Mathew, Parish Priest, Sacred Heart Parish, translated the homily of Bishop. Chena Humtose, Chairman, Khumchoyan also spoke during the function and Nchumbemo Yathan, Catechist, Khumchoyan delivered the words of gratitude. 
St Mary’s Church, Merapani and Sacred Heart church, Bhandari choirs sang during the Holy Mass.
