‘Church has great responsibility in fight against HIV & AIDS’

Tuensang, June 21 (MExN): To make its ministry relevant to the present changing time, the Nagaland Development Outreach (NDO) has identified health, specifically HIV & AIDS as one of the “pertaining issue that is prevailing in our Naga Society.”

“In the context of a Christian state like Nagaland, the church undoubtedly has a great responsibility in the fight against the pandemic of HIV & AIDS. The Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) has recognized the seriousness of the problem and continues to fight against the pandemic across the state of Nagaland actively by training and equipping church leaders time and again with the support of the Legislator’s Forum on AIDS (LFA),” stated a press release issued by NDO which is the Development wing of NBCC. 

NDO and Legislators Forum on AIDS (LFA), the press release said, “having common goal have partnered in order to reach out to the masses in advocating and training church leaders to take up more responsibility by addressing the issue appropriately and with compassion.”

Keeping this in mind, the NDO organized one day advocacy programme for local area church leaders on HIV & AIDS under Khiamniungan Baptist Churches Association (KBCA) Nagaland hosted at its mission centre located at Komking, Noklak under Tuensang District on June 19.

The resource persons were Dr. Toshi Jamir, In charge ART Centre Tuensang, Rev. C. Amop Noklang and A. Vikheho Chisho from NDO.
