Church leaders join in fight against HIV/AIDS

DIMAPUR, JAN 31 (MExN): Church leaders in an around Dimapur serving under Nagaland Christian Revival Churches (NCRC) sector today joined a 3-day crusade against HIV/AIDs. Jointly organized by Constella Futures and Nagaland Youth Gospel Movement in collaboration with Project Orchid Dimapur under India Essential Advocacy Project with an aim to sensitize churches for creating awareness in the fight against AIDS. 

Speaking on the sidelines of the seminar, Johnny Kadunsin Ruahgmei, State Advocacy Advisor, Nagaland, expressed his belief that there is a need to speak out on HIV/AIDS in the church because Christians are not exceptions to the disease. Christians and church-based organizations have a big role to play in educating the faithfuls on the scourge that has claimed innumerable lives, regardless of faith. This is the goal for which we need to see the participation of preachers and Christians, he said. 

The speakers and resource persons included Prof. Imchayanger, Mission Secretary of NCRC, Khrieketou, Programme Officer Project Orchid, Gopen Moses, Niketu Iralu, Rev. Shiwoto Sumi, Former President of NCRC and Rev. Neikedozo Paphino, President of NCRC. 

A workshop, “skill building on policy formulation on HIV/AIDS & development issues” is the first of its kind among religious leaders and Christians. The ongoing 3-day seminar is being attended by church leaders, elders and youth leaders from the district which is been held at NCRC Mission & Prayer Centre, Tenyiphe Dimapur.
