Church leaders, NGOs urged to join fight against HIV/AIDS

  Tuensang, December 2 (MExN): Along with the rest of the world, Tuensang district observed World AIDS Day with SDO (Civil) Tuensang Ajit Kumar Verma IAS as the guest speaker. The programme was organized by District AIDS prevention and Control Unit (DAPCU), Network of Tuensang PLHIV (NTDP+), in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) and AHANA (NCPI+) with the theme ‘Know Your Status’ at CKS hall Tuensang town on December 1.   Speaking on the occasion, Ajit Kumar exhorted the gathering and said that the department alone cannot control to prevent the disease. He urged that the Church leaders, NGOs and society to initiate along with the department to disseminate awareness for the prevention of HIV/AIDS. The district scenario was presented by PO (NETSU/NACO) Imsu Pongen.   Legal Aid Services for PLHIV by Soteth Anar, Panel Lawyer spoke on the basic rights while positive speaker of the programme was shared by Tiuanu, President (NDTP+). Special number was presented by Gabriel Chitei, special prayer for PLHIVs was pronounced by Reverend Achu Chang, Executive Secretary CBLT and vote of thanks was proposed by Ahoshe, Field Officer (Project AHANA). The programme was attended by CMO, Dy. CMO, DAPCU staffs, Panel Lawyer, Church leaders, Students and PLHIVs.
