Dimapur Feb 9 (MExN): Ushering in a new chapter in the annals of Nagaland Development Outreach (NDO), Reverend Phughoto Aye has taken over as its Director, replacing outgoing Director Reverend Dr Pongsing even as a new office for Dimapur NDO wing was inaugurated and dedicated today in the city. The new office located near CHSS, Nyamo Lotha Road, was inaugurated by Reverend Zhabu Terhuja, General Secretary, NBCC.
“The church should be able to stand up on its own resources. We should stand on our own resources. It must never depend on (the government). That was the reason why the NDO was incepted” Reverend Phughoto Aye said on the sidelines of the dedication-cum-handing over of Directorship programme. He affirmed that the vision of the NDO was to lift the socio-economic conditions of the people through various developmental undertakings. “My prayer is that the socio-economic life of the people would be lifted and it would also be extended to the rural areas” the new director said adding that he would be perusing the current projects and work on new needful projects.
Meanwhile, addressing the gathering at the new NDO office quarters, Director Reverend Aye, while expressing happiness at being given the charge of Directorship, said that it was also a moment of dread that he might not fulfill the expectations from people. “In this moment of joy, it also fills me with trepidation that I may fail to fill in the shoes of Reverend Dr Pongsing, who has definitely left large footprints with his experience, talent, wisdom and faith” he said. He appealed for guidance and support, prayers and constructive criticisms as he takes over his new responsibility and that the people’s confidence would not have been misplaced.
Outgoing Director Reverend Dr Pongsing in his farewell speech while recalling his days with the NBCC and the NDO said it was a real challenge to be in the ministry. “Today, the NDO is well-established because it is legally validated through various registrations, internally connected and is protected by the strong arms of the NBCC” he said while expressing happiness that the future of the NDO was bright and would soar high “but remain a reliable service agency”.
The dedication-cum-handing over of Directorship programme was chaired by T Lima Jamir, Chairman of the NDO Board. Short speeches were delivered by Er. Chuba, Consultant NDO, Reverend Kari Lonchar, Director Peace affairs, NBCC, NDO staffers.
