Along with the rest of the world, World Sunday School Day was observed in various churches across Nagaland on November 6.
At the Chakhesang Baptist Church Kohima, the Children Ministry marked the day along with Graduation Day under the theme ‘Reflecting Christ (Romans 8:29).’ Activities like Bible recitation, action, song, Tenyidie Bible recitation, folk song etc., were conducted to commemorate the day.
Kariuganhliu Kamei Koza spoke on the occasion as the main speaker; Rev Vezopa Rhakho spoke at the valedictory session while Jodovelu Shijoh also spoke on the occassion.
The programme was followed by Banquet Graduation service with Khruhizo Dozo as the speaker.
Rev Dr Kevekhalo Lasuh led the certification and prayer.
KLBC: Similarly, the Sunday School Department of the Kohima Liangmai Baptist Church, D Block organised a programme at the church premises.
Rev N Silubo Zeliang, Pastor, KLBC stated that children are a gift and heritage of God and urged both Sunday school teachers and the parents to teach the children about the love of God and educate them to know God from their childhood life and experience the blessings of God in their life. He also urged the Sunday school children to show their respect and obey their teachers and parents.
The Sunday school children participated in various kinds of activities like Bible recitation, singing and dancing, informed a press release from the Media Cell. The Sunday School Department also generously hosted light refreshments for the church.
Koinonia Baptist Church: A press release meanwhile stated that the Koinonia Baptist Church (KBC) commemorated the occasion under the theme ‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge,’ with Rev Zotuo Kiewhuo, Senior Pastor, KBC as speaker.
On the occasion, special performances were presented by Sunday school teachers, Intermediate, Junior and Beginner class. While Belinda Kiewhuo, Superintendent, KBC Sunday school gave a report and award was given to acknowledge regular students and faithful tithes giver. The programme was led Neibalie Kiewhuo, Pastor KBC.
At the Koinonia Prayer Centre, Akho Hibo, Evangelist KBC was the speaker, Neilhou Sopfünuo Evangelist KBC led the service, and there were special presentations by the Sunday school students.
NBC Chümoukedima: Under the theme ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart & with all your soul & with all your strength (Deut. 6:5),’ the Nepali Baptist Church Chümoukedima Town had Beena Thapa, Women Secretary, Association of the Gorkha Baptist Churches Nagaland as speaker for the day.
Thapa encouraged the Sunday school students, to be more vigilant in their life journey, to be determined, and to put God first in whatever they do. Various activities like Bible memory, singing, dancing, etc., were presented by the students, a press release stated.
CBCMH Kohima: The Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers' Hill (CBCMH) Kohima, Sunday School Department observed the day along with Graduation Day for Knight Templars batch of 2022, in the church on Sunday.
A total of 64 sunday school children graduated to the youth department on the occasion.
Addressing the graduating children, Associate Pastor of CBCMHK, Thujoneyi Veswüh, spoke on 'reflecting the beauty of Jesus Christ' as young people. He said the society is in need of men and women who will be bold to say that he/she is not shame of following Christ and someone who is willing to live in integrity and holiness.
He lamented the culture of conversing with one another in 'golden' words is rare. On the other hand, young people prefer speaking to one another in 'slang' words in the society today. But as Christians, young people should reflect beauty of Christ in faith, love, speech, and action, a press release stated.
He also advised graduating students to live in purity saying that purity in body, mind, and heart is important. Whatever you do should be on pure motive. He added that one can live a life of purity only when they have the word of God.
Knight Templars teacher Akhale Khamo, who is also a former director of Tourism department, Government of Nagaland, informed that initially more than 200 students were registered for batch 2022. But the number of students reduced to around 80 as some migrated while some went to hostels.
She said the teachers have tried to prepare the graduating children to become youth members. Therefore, she requested Youth department to welcome and mentor them to become good members of the church.
