Kiphire, July 7 (MExN): Two-day farmers’ training on focus horticulture crops was organized by Central Institute of Horticulture, Medziphema in collaboration with District Horticulture Office, Kiphire at Hopongkyu Memorial Hall here on June 27 and 28.
Senkalemba, District Horticulture Officer, Kiphire, delivered the inaugural address and Dr. Moasosang Longkumer, Asst. Horticulture Specialist & Training in-charge, CIH) highlighted about various activities undertaken by the Central Institute of Horticulture, Medziphema.
Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, Mohammed Ali Shihab (IAS) in his keynote address told the farmers that Kiphire being selected as an ‘Aspirational District’ is an opportunity for them to uplift their livelihood, which can be made possible only through their hard work and sincerity.
The resource persons Hesilo, Horticulture Inspector, Kiphire and Imtiwapang, Horticulture Assistant, Kiphire delivered training on various topics such as vermicomposting, package and practices on cultivation of focus horticulture crops.
Further, constraints of marketing and problems regarding insect pest management were discussed during farmers’ interaction with the resource persons.
