CIH provides technical guidance on floriculture

Dimapur, October 18 (MExN): The Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland has conducted an online training on ‘Production Technology of Seasonal Flowers and Floriculture Enterprise for Income Generation’ on October 18, with the objective to provide technical guidance on important aspects of floriculture sector and create awareness on potential avenues for start ups.

According to a press release from the CIH on Monday, Additional Commissioner for Horticulture and CIH Director in-charge Dr NK Patle emphasized on the importance and potential of floriculture towards generating a sustainable income.

He also encouraged the participants to take up scientific production of these crops for maximum return. He stressed on several important points such as prospects in undertaking floriculture nurseries for quality planting material production, use of organic inputs, bio pesticides and fungicides for controlling pests and diseases in flowers, the release stated.

Technical experts of the institute delivered the virtual training on various aspects of production technology for flowers and ornamental plants such as management of pests and diseases, drying of flowers for value addition, and home scale floriculture start ups for income generation.

A total of 40 participants comprising of ex-trainees, young entrepreneurs, unemployed youths and young aspirants from various districts of Nagaland actively participated and interacted with the subject experts, the release stated.
