Dimapur, July 27 (MExN): The Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR) on Monday issued a clarification allaying public fear over the reported detection of COVID-19 positive case and sealing of casualty ward at the hospital.
A press release from the CIHSR Management informed that “a patient with viral pneumonia with diabetes and hypertension” was admitted in the Isolation Ward on July 24 after preliminary test report for COVID-19 was negative. However, a repeat TrueNat test was done on July 25 reported positive and a sample for RT-PCR confirmation was sent to the BSL-3 lab in Kohima on the same day, it said.
The result is still awaited and depending upon it, decision to transfer the patient to COVID hospital will be taken, the release stated.
Meanwhile, the CIHSR Management has temporarily closed and relocated the Emergency services to the old OPD area in order to carry out precautionary sanitization on July 26 and will reopen on July 28.
In compliance with the guidelines issued on July 24 for non COVID hospitals by the state Health and Family Welfare Department, the authorities have also completed contact listing and quarantined listed persons.
It informed that other non-affect services like OPD, In-patient Services, Hemodialysis, Chemo-Radiation etc will continue till further notice and said that further updates will be released in due time.
Meanwhile, as of 8:00 pm, Monday, the RT-PCR report was still being awaited. An official source quoting the Chief Medical Officer, informed that the DTF was still to recommend sealing, pending the confirmatory result.
