Staff and students of CIHSR, Chümoukedima conducted a walkathon on April 11 to create awareness on head and neck cancer.
Chümoukedima, April 12 (MExN): Head and neck cancer is one of the most common cancers in India. GLOBOCAN estimates head and neck cancers to account for 30% of all cancer in India and is expected to rise. The burden of this type of cancer is heavy and results from exposure to tobacco, alcohol, other carcinogens and infections.
The month of April marks the head and neck cancer awareness month and in an effort to raise awareness, the staff and students of Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research (CIHSR), Chümoukedima conducted a walkathon on April 11 at 6:30 am from Chekiye gate, 3rd Mile, Chümoukedima to the hospital main gate.
Screening for head and neck cancer will also be offered free of cost on the next two Saturdays of April.
