CIHSR to provide free quality TB treatment

Dimapur, July 26 (MExN): The 44th Designated Microscopy Centre (DMC)cum DOTS centre under the Revised National TB Control Programme, Directorate of Health& Family Welfare, Nagaland, will soon begin to function at the CIHSR (Christian Institute of Health Science Research), Dimapur.  With the opening up of the DMC at CIHSR, patients will be able to access free sputum microscopy and DOTS treatment. This has been informed here in a press release issued by Dr. K.T. Lotha, state TB officer (RNTCP), Directorate of Health & Family Welfare.

The note stated that the initiative of including a non governmental health facility in the programme is first of its kind in the state. The programme officer has expressed optimism at the prospect of catering to a larger populate through this Institute. 

Meanwhile at the ‘sensitization programme’ that was held at CIHSR on July 22, Dr. Viu Meru, administrator of CIHSR welcomed the gathering while the North East RNTCP consultant, Dr. Palash Talukdar briefed the doctors and nurses of the CIHSR about the treatment regime of DOTS. A brief presentation was given by Dr K T Lotha, state TB officer on the state’s programme performance followed by an interaction session, it stated.

It also mentioned that the programme was attended by Dr. Sedevi Angami, medical superintendent, (CIHSR), David Chandran, associate director, Dr Viu Meru administrator of CIHSR, Dr. Palash Talukdar North East RNTCP consultant, Dr. John Sweyievisa, joint director (DHFW), Dr. K T Lotha, state TB officer along with doctors, nurses of CIHSR and Officers and Staff of State TB cell and district TB centre Dimapur.
