To boost the capacity of tribal entrepreneurs, the Confederation of Indian Tribal Entrepreneurs (CITE) Nagaland Chapter under Startup India will be launched on May 7 in Kohima.
The CITE platform aims to motivate and support tribal entrepreneurs by linking them to the various financial institutions for business activities.
Announcing this during a press conference here, Johnny G Rengma, Director, National Scheduled Tribe Finance Development Corporation, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India said the Department of Industries & Commerce, Govt. of Nagaland has been designated as nodal department for Startup India programme in Nagaland.
The initiative aims to accelerate and promote local entrepreneurs in the State and to create a single point of contact for the entire startup ecosystems and enable knowledge and access funding.
Rengma said that CITE Nagaland Chapter will play the role of social security to financial institutions and Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC) as financial guarantor.
He was hopeful that the State government would continue to extend support to NIDC to promote local entrepreneurs in a big way.
He also encouraged the tribal entrepreneurs to apply for any type of business venture through this Startup India programme. The loan component ranges from Rs. 1 to Rs. 25 lakh at 6% interest.
Meanwhile, Johnny felt the need to have a separate tribal affairs department in Nagaland.
CITE Nagaland Chapter will be formally launched by Industries & Commerce advisor Imnatiba at Hotel Japfü, Kohima at 11:00 am.
The launching programme will be chaired by Sentiwapang Aier, Joint Secretary, Industries & Commerce department, while welcome address will be delivered by Industries & Commerce director I Bendangliba.
NIDC Managing Director, CM Lotha will highlight the activities of NIDC and Johnny G Rengma will deliver the keynote address.
