Citizen and press meet on AMRUT at DMC

A one-day programme of citizen and press meet was organized by Dimapur Municipal Council at its office premises on Saturday in commemoration of 1st Anniversary of Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT).  

Speaking at the programme, DMC Administrator, H. Atokhe Aye informed that Dimapur was selected among the 500 cities in the country under Amrut and highlighted on the major projects which were under process.  

He informed that the first project was on providing water supply to each and every household in Dimapur and for which the DMC has tied up with the PHED. The second project was on sewerage facilities and septage management. On this project too, the DMC has tied up with the PHED and progress was in full swing to set up human excreta treatment plant, he added.  

Under Urban Transportation project, Atokhe said that spots for construction of two foot overbridge have been identified at Deluxe Point and Dhobinala near SBI.  

He informed that construction of footpath at a width of 6 feet in town area was also one of the projects for which proposals have already been submitted. Under Green Space and Parks project, Atokhe said that the DMC was mooting adopting the Children’s Park at PWD Colony and if necessary news locations would be identified for constructing children’s park. The central Amrut programme is for a period of five years from 2015-20.  

Stating that Dimapur would also try to apply for Smart City Project, the DMC Administrator appealed for public support and cooperation. He reiterated his appeal to the public to inculcate civic sense and avoid dumping huge solid wastes into drains which contribute to clogging drains.  

During the programme, the DMC officials responded to queries from the citizens on Amrut programme. The 1st anniversary programme of Amrut was attended by GBs, Colony Councils, DCCI, press fraternity and other citizens.
