DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 26 (MExN): In a welcome development, the Anaki Senso Mongdang (Citizens forum), at its annual meeting held on October 23 at Anaki Yimsen, Mokokchung district has resolved not to allow setting up of any political camps within Anaki village jurisdiction for the coming State Assembly election 2008. This was stated in a press note from I. Nuklu Ltr, president ASM and Chuba Ao, general secretary ASM. It also resolved that if any political party wishes to hold public rallies within the jurisdiction of the village, the same should be coordinated trough the village council chairman and on the condition that no political party worker shall stay overnight within Anaki jurisdiction.
The meeting further resolved that the decision of the forum would be final and binding on all the citizens of the village and political parties and in case of any party/individuals taking stand against this decision, the Forum will take it as a direct confrontation against Anaki Senso Mongdang and would boycott all the activities of the said party.
It may be mentioned that in a similar initiative, members of eleven clans of a village, Tesophenyu, had resolved to exercise own free-will vote franchise. The Tesophenyu Group of 11 Clans met on October 20 in Tesophenyu village resolving that all eligible voters of Tesophenyu Group (Eleven) clans under Tesophenyu group shall exercise their franchise on his/her own will to elect his/her leader in the forthcoming State Election, schedule to be held in 2008 and as guaranteed by the Indian Constitution.
