Dimapur, June 2 (MExN): In a testament of a social people made to feel redundant by its social representatives, a group of Lotha citizens have expressed resentment at the Lotha Students Union (LSU) withdrawing its demands forwarded on the Wokha PM’s Package and warned that a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) would be filed so that the money from the package is not misused by few vested individuals and politicians.
Expressing pain and surprise at the withdrawal of the demands, a group of concerned citizens from Kohima wrote that it is even more painful that the action of withdrawing by the LSU was taken on grounds, quoting the union, that the issue was “irrational and irrelevant”. The citizens made unambiguously clear that a PIL would be sought to address the issue of Wokha’s PM’s Package money maintained as misused by vested individuals and politicians. “We are ready to take up the issue and file a PIL so that the money is not misused by few vested individuals and politicians” it was underlined.
“By doing so (action of withdrawing the demands) the LSU has not only demeaned its own office but has hurt the sentiments and hopes of the genuine concerned citizens of Wokha district who were faithfully behind the LSU and were supporting them wholeheartedly as the LSU’s demand was more than justified. (But) By withdrawing the demands, the LSU has betrayed our faith” the Citizens stated in a letter received here.
The citizens as signed in the letter are Z Thungchamo Kikon, Renao Patton, Joseph Ezung, James Lotha, Yanchamo Humtsoe, C Chenirao Lotha, K Bipenthung, YS Ngullie and Zaren Kikon, all from Kohima. It was strongly expressed that should the union fail to uphold the cause of Wokha district, particularly in the PM’s Package issue, it should be publicly announced at the earliest.
“There, we want to strongly warn the LSU not to take us for granted by playing with the common cause of the people of Wokha district. We want to let the LSU know that the LSU cannot be misused by few handful office bearers who are presently manning the LSU” the citizens stated. The citizens opined that if the present office bearers cannot deliver justice to the younger generation “then they must shamefully bow out of their office” and allow other capable, honest and committed students to man the union.
