Advisor to Chief Minister of Nagaland and Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) Abu Metha today placed on record that the Rengma community and the citizens of Tseminyu district have greatly contributed towards the journey of Naga people for the past several decades.
“Be it in our quest for peace, honour and respect in the Naga political movement, be it in the journey of Nagaland’s statehood, the Rengma community has given its best daughters and best sons towards the greater cause of the Nagas and Nagaland,” said Metha while addressing the opening ceremony of the 1st Mini Olympic 2024 of Rengma Sports Association at Tseminyu on January 11.
‘We remain grateful for your contributions, your sacrifices towards making Nagaland what is today,’ he said adding that their good deeds will be remembered in the history of the Naga people for all times to come.
Also congratulating the citizens of Tseminyu district and the Rengma community for achieving the status of a full-fledged district, he said “You had a democratic movement seeking your aspiration to be a district and this demand and cry was heard by Government of the day under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio. The cry of the Rengma people was heard and your aspiration and demand was fulfilled.” He said that the NDPP also supported their demand.
Metha said that the achievement of the district status for Tseminyu and Rengma community was very historic, very deserving and significant not just for them but for the entire Naga community. He maintained that achievement of district has unlocked the potential of Tseminyu.
“We want you to contribute greater towards the Naga journey. We want you to play a frontal role as Nagaland progresses and marches forward,” he said. He also stated their cooperation towards the government policies and programmes will bring more development.
Metha also stressed on the need to work collectively “towards our common aspiration of developing the district.”
“I know that the Tseminyu district and Rengma people have fantastic and great role to contribute towards Nagaland and the Naga people rising,” he added.
