A new campaign called ‘Keep Our City Clean’ was launched today outside United Traders, Kohima. Themed ‘Together We Can’, the campaign is spearheaded by concerned citizens from various professions with a common objective to raise awareness on every citizen’s responsibility to keep Kohima city clean.

Providing a brief concept on the campaign, Khriehuzo Lohe stated that the newly launched campaign aims in building consciousness among citizens, by coordinating with village welfare organizations, students organisation, churches of all denominations, colony youths, NGOs and stakeholders in the community.

“The need of the hour for us today is to come together to keep our city clean. We just cannot leave it to the KMC, Smart City authorities or the department to keep our city clean. We must be the main players here. Let us make this campaign our priority,” said Lohe.

According to Lohe, Kohima is one city which has good weather conditions, fertile soil, clean water, and therefore citizens are fortunate to have the opportunity to spend their lives in Kohima. At the same time, it is one's duty to maintain and keep our cities clean, stated Lohe, appealing all citizens to make efforts in maintaining the city.

A prayer was also invoked during the launch by Rev. Keviyiekielie Linyü, Ebenezer Baptist Church, Sepfuzou.
Following the launch, participants took a brief march around Kohima main city holding banners and placards raising awareness on cleanliness.

The launching function was attended by students from Oking Christian School Kohima and Capital College Kohima, senior citizens, public leaders with special presentations by Senti Semy, Archers, Ladies Taekwondo and Life Fitness Gym.
