Mokokchung, December 7 (MExN): More than 45 plus volunteers in Sungratsü village initiated a major road repairing that connect GHS Sungratsü, Alongchen Compound, Impur and Mopungchuket village on December 7.
An update from the volunteers informed that the stretched road was repaired on 2010 through VDB fund; however, as years past by the road could not be maintained and started deteriorating which cause lots of inconveniences for daily commuters. They added that after deliberating among themselves about the pathetic road condition they have decided to repair the road.
Imnakumzuk, a prominent citizen of Sungratsü village said approximately half a Kilometer was repaired by the volunteers. “We have almost plastered half of the road with concrete as procurement of Asphalt was not possible. It is just a humble contribution from our side for the welfare of the village,” he said.
It is said that concrete roads are durable and safe. They are considerably less prone to wear and tear defects like rutting, cracking, stripping loss of texture, and potholes that can occur with flexible pavement surfaces. This low maintenance requirement is one of the principal advantages of concrete pavements.
Meanwhile, the volunteers expressed appreciation to the Sungratsü Baptist Arogo, Alongchen Baptist Arogo, Sungratsü Yimten and well-wishers who contributed immensely to initiate the road repairing.
