City Church pays tribute to Rev. Pieter

KOHIMA, March 24 (MExN): A memorial service for Rev. Pieter Vermeulen, who passed away on March 22, 2013 in Dehradun was held at City Church Kohima on Saturday evening. Rev. Pieter is learnt to have spent the last two decades as a missionary in India. He also frequently visited Nagaland during the period, through Naga friends he had come in contact with over the years in the cities across India.

Late Rev. Pieter Vermeulen’s funeral and memorial services were held at Dehradun, Kohima and South Africa simultaneously. He was accorded with rich tributes by Naga friends in Kohima, who saw in him a “fatherly figure, a friend and a brother.” For some of the Naga youths, he was a “Spiritual Father”. They testified to having lost, in his death, a great missionary and a man who showed the love of Christ in every aspect of his life.

At the memorial service, Prof. Talitsuba Alinger delivered a short message while Lemtila shared few words about him, and Menguvilie Sakhrie read the Bible. The service was led by Seyie Tepa.
