Civil organisations demand Indo-Myanmar fencing

Dimapur, June 12 (MExN): Three civil organisations based in Moreh today demanded that the Indo-Myanmar be sealed with fencing as the underground cadres responsible for the recent upheavals in Moreh were perpetuated by underground cadres who entered the town after crossing the international border.

The three civil societies; the Hill Tribal Council, the Moreh, Kuki Women Union & Human Rights, Moreh and the Kuki Students Organisation (Moreh Block), in a memo submitted to a Ministerial Team that visited Moreh on June 11 in connection with recent turmoil in Moreh, stated that the killings were carried out by UGs who entered from Myanmar after crossing the international borders. The memo stated that until and unless the Indo-Myanmar border is sealed with a fencing, more of such incidents is is bound to occur. The memo demanded the stationing of a battalion each of the Assam Rifles at New Samtal, Molcham, Yangngoulen (Phaisanjang) and Gamphajol villages.
