Sovima, February 18 (MExN): Meghalaya and Nagaland are bracing for a crucial second day on February 19 in their Under-23 Col CK Nayudu Trophy Plate Group final at Nagaland Cricket Stadium, Sovima.
At the close of play on Day-I on Sunday, Nagaland posted 50 runs on the scoreboard for the loss of 1 wicket and was trailing Meghalaya by 58 runs.
Meghalaya faced early setbacks in their first innings, losing their initial wicket at 26 runs and ultimately being bowled out for a modest 108 runs.
Stellar bowling performances from Neizekho (3/34) and Raja Swarnkar (3/23) proved challenging for the visiting team, with Nagaland’s captain Hem Bahadur also contributing with two wickets.
Nagaland’s innings commenced with the loss of a wicket in the very first ball, creating a shaky start.
However, Mughavi and Samuel stabilised the team, reaching a score of 50 without any further loss until bad light forced the umpires to call off the day’s play.
As the teams gear up for Day-2 on Monday, Nagaland aims to build a substantial lead in their first innings, while Meghalaya seeks to restrict their opponents.
The second day on Monday, thus, is poised to be a decisive moment for both teams, potentially shaping the outcome of the remaining days of the match.
The final encounter is scheduled from February 19-21.
