Dimapur, May 24 (MExN): Minister for Rural Development, CL John inaugurated the village road constructed under MGNREGA at Nihokhu village, RD Block Niuland on May 23.
The minister was impressed with the performance of Nihokhu VDB in development of the village through judicious utilization of the fund, a press release received here said.
CL John encouraged the village to continue to make best use of the fund that comes to the village for its development and show the good example to other villages as well. Performance of the villages in implementation of the schemes reflects the reputation of the department, he stated. Highlighting the funding pattern of the department, he called upon the villagers, especially the village functionaries, not to be misled by listening to what others say that eventually leads to hampering the development in the village.
Also speaking on the occasion, Secretary, Rural Development, Kelei Zeliang said that the department is working with full commitment for betterment of the villagers. Therefore, the villagers should also extend their utmost cooperation towards the department to enable it to bring better facilities to villages, he added. According warm reception to the minister and his entourage, villagers presented folk songs and dances honouring them.
