Clarification on Sugar Mill Scam

Dimapur, June 15 (MExN): With reference to a news-report published in a leading local daily on May 8 under the caption “CBI names MP, Dy Dir (Ind), 2 NSCN men in VRS scam”, the two individuals whose names had been mentioned has come out with a clarification. Azheto and Visheto in a press note asserted that their names have been dragged into the  VRS scam “unilaterally” and  “slurring our names and tarnishing our reputation as true national workers”. “Our names are implicated in the issue when, in fact, we know nothing how the alleged VRS money transpired between the department of Industries and the employees of the erstwhile Sugar Mill”, stated the press note issued by the two “national workers”.

While pointing out that they did “intervene by requesting some official of the Industries Department in 2002 to help the employees by releasing their VRS money at the earliest on the request of the employees as the employees were financially hard-up and living hand to mouth existence and jobless”, the duo however lamented that that their “good deed and intention is being translated negatively to our discomfort by some vested interest element with otherwise intention”. The press note  requested all the people in concern and the investigation authority (agency) that they were ready to clarify further if need arises  but to refrain from dragging their names any further on “wild allegation”.
