Dimapur, January 27 (MExN): The 24th general session of Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) and foundation stone unveiling of Sumi Cultural Centre was held at Sumi Cultural Centre, Vihokhu village on January 27.
A press release received here stated that Tokheho Yepthomi, Member of Parliament, Lok Sabha graced the occasion as special guest and unveiled the stone in presence of KT Sukhalu, advisor, department of School Education.
Speaking on the occasion, Tokheho Yepthomi said, “Our society is lagging behind in everything when the world is changing and is making progress at a rapid pace.” He made a clarion call to the GBs to give more dedication towards the progress of the society saying that GBs are leaders and rulers of the mass and therefore it is imperative for the GBs to lead people with positive sides of life as common people will imitate what the leaders show them.
He said it is important for the GBs to collectively endeavour for having a closely knitted society and imbibe proper functioning system sans being individualistic and to be able to say right to what is right and wrong to what is wrong.
“Nagas should not be lazy and arrogant but put collective effort to make use of our resources and abilities which Nagas have in plenty, and catch up with the rest of the world,” he stated.
Pointing out promotion of language is most vital to keep one's rich culture alive; the MP Lok Sabha encouraged proper usage of native language in respective functions and programs such as student conference, marriages, Hoho conference etc.
Rev. Dr. Phughoto Aye, Executive Secretary, WSBAK dedicated the foundation stone with a prayer. Sumi Hoho vice president, Vihoshe Yepthomi and Western Sumi Hoho president, Dr. Kakheto Zhimomi exhorted the gathering and called upon the people for retrospection and not to ever forget our forefathers who made great sacrifices to make life better for the present generation.
Others who spoke on the occasion include Khesheli Chishi, District and Session Judge, Zunheboto, Vihuto Yepthomi, president Western Sumi Kukami Hoho, Shikuto Zalipu, General Secretary, Nagaland GBs Federation and Isawoto Zhimomi, former president, Western Sumi Kukami Hoho.
The function was chaired by Mughavi Awomi, vice president, WSKH and recorded by Kuhovi Zhimomi, General Secretary, WSKH while Kakuho Yeptho, cultural Secretary, WSKH proposed vote of thanks.
Meanwhile, with a consensus decision of all concerned the existing team of office bearers of Western Sumi Kukami Hoho led by its president Vihuto Yepthomi and vice president, Mughavi Awomi and general secretary, Kuhovi Zhimomi has been re-elected for the next tenure.
