
Our Correspondent Kohima | November 16 Barak FC and Addax FC today registered wins in their respective matches and moved to the quarterfinals of the ongoing 22nd Classic Cup 2016 here at the Kohima Local Ground. In the first pre-quarter match, Barak FC blanked Lerie Youth FC 4-0 with Rhitsho Mero grabbing a hat-trick for Barak FC. Mero grabbed two early goals - in the 5th and 7th minutes, before completing his hat-trick in the 20th minute. Nighatu completed the rout in the 51st minute. In the second pre-quarter final match, Addax FC defeated Tyrants FC 5- 3 in a high-scoring match which saw 8 goals being scored. Addax scored 3 early goals in as many minutes before Tyrants fought back with two goals. Punuru opened the account for Addax FC with two quick goals scoring in the 11th and 12th minutes before Akhrielie made it 3-0 in the 13th minute. A stunned Tyrants FC tried to make its way back as they pulled one back four minutes later through Viseyie. The spirited Tyrants then reduced the goal deficit by one goal in the second half when Chetso found the back of the net in the 55th minute. However, Neikethozo restored the two-goal advantage just two minutes later before Punuru completed his hat-trick in the 60th minutes to make it 4-2. Meyiezo pulled a goal back again in the 62nd minute as the match ended 4-3. Addax FC will next clash with Barak FC in the quarter finals on November 22. Earlier on Tuesday, Kuki United Football Club, Yhome FC, Renegades FC and Street Hawks FC marked wins against their respective opponents to book their pre-quarterfinal berths. Kuki United humiliated Young Creepers FC 6-0 in a one-sided match in which Seiginmang scored a hat-trick. It was Elminhao who opened the account for Kuki United scoring in 12th minute before Seihinmang added three consecutive goals in quick succession scoring in the 15th, 19th and 22nd minute in the process, claiming the fourth hat-trick of the tournament. Kaigin and Lamminlen scored one each in the 33rd and 47th minute to complete the 6-0 rout. Kuki United player Thangminlal was penalised with yellow card for unsporting behaviour in the 54th minute. Yhome FC managed to move ahead beating Chuziema FC by a solitary goal in the second match with the much needed goal coming through the boots of Vilhoubeituo Yhome in 13th minute. Roko Nienu was also penalised in 42nd minute for foul play. The third match of the day was also closely contested with Renegades edging Gari-Ciko Gariphema by a solitary goal. Aneilie scored the winner in the dying minutes of first half. However, three of its players Joseph, Aneilie and Viketoukho were penalised for unsporting behaviour along with Zakiebeituo of Gari-Ciko in 14th, 28th, 45th and 58th minutes of play respectively. In another close-shave match, Street Hawks FC knocked Chedema FC by solitary goal with Mhasivotuo finding the net in added time of the second half. Neiketuo and Vikuotuolie of Chedema and Gobin of Streethawks were penalised in 23rd, 38th and 36th minutes of play respectively.
