
Dimapur, May 6 (MExN): The Eastern Sumi Hoho (ESH) organised a leadership workshop to deliberate on the Clean Election Campaign at the Sumi Baptist Church, Seyochung town.
Held under the theme ‘Niqoaho Akikili Shini (To Reform our Society),’ the main motive of the workshop was to educate the citizens on their precious right to vote in a free and fair manner and also to choose leaders who are God fearing since elections form the bedrock of the largest democracy of world (India), a press release from the ESH stated on Friday.
In the first session, Advocate Zhekheli Zhimomi expounded on the difference between the Indian Constitution, the Naga Customary Laws and its usages and relevance today while Pastor of Thilixu Baptist Church Rev Dr Hokheto Chophy spoke about the ‘Clean Election Movement’ in the second session.
Rev Chophy is said to have emphasised on the importance of growing spiritually, intellectually and physically as believers, through effective participation in elections based on Christian principles by displaying clean and honest politics.
The workshop was attended by 352 participants and leaders from different faith-based organisations, village councils, VDBs and GBs of different villages, along with the Eastern Sumi Kukami Hoho, Eastern Sumi Totimi Hoho and the Kiphire Tuensang District Sumi Students Union, the release stated.
