‘Clean Election starts from a clean electoral roll’

Jakhama, August 14 (DIPR): A one day workshop on Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) was held on August 14 at Jakhama sub-division office with the theme – ‘Registration in electoral roll and conduct of election,’ in association with NBCC and its church bodies.  

SDO (Civil) Jakhama, Alemyapang Longchar gave a highlight of the SVEEP programme and said that it was introduced to inform, educate, motivate and facilitate voters to make democracy more participative and meaningful.  

He encouraged all stakeholders- village councils, GBs, church leaders and NGOs to ensure clean electoral roll and help each voters to exercise his/her voting right judiciously. He said that Booth Awareness Groups (BAG) in villages should actively play its role and participate in all special camp and enrolment drive campaign and stated that “A clean election starts from a clean electoral roll”.  

While urging all concerned to ensure a clean election in the upcoming state election, the SDO thanked and expressed his appreciation to all organisations especially NBCC and its church bodies for taking up the Clean Election Campaign. Rev. Zapovil Sophie Pastor, Jakhama Baptist Church, speaking on the importance of clean election exhorted the voters to elect a candidate with integrity and uprightness of character and added that electing the right candidate will bring about all round development. The programme also included a talk on ‘Role and Duties of BLO under SVEEP’ by Abanuo Richa and ‘Role of Village Authorities in ensuring clean electoral’ by Razuokhül Kechü, head GB Viswema and Seichalie, VCC Kigwema.
